SET Exam 2010
SET stands State Eligibility Test and this test is being conducted in different states in India like Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. It is an examination for the post of lecturer in institutes and universities of different states. Likewise, Maharashtra State Examination is conducted by the University of Pune, which has been authorized by the state government of Maharashtra to conduct the examination. Normally, the State agencies are authorized by the University Grants Commission to conduct the SET examination. For the state of Maharashtra, Pune University, acts as the state agency for conducting SET examination.
The candidates can appear for the SET examination, in the subject, in which the candidate has done his/her master’s degree. Candidates can apply for the SET 2010 online through the Maharashtra SET web site http://setexam.unipune.ernet.in/. After applying for the SET examination online, the candidate will be required to take the print out of the filled in application form and they should send it along with the demand draft drawn in favor of the registrar, University of Pune at any nationalized banks payable at Pune. The application fee is Rs.550, which includes processing fee and Rs.450 for reserved category candidates like SC/ST and physically handicapped and visually handicapped candidates.
Maharashtra SET examination will have three papers. Paper I and II will be conducted for duration of 75 minutes for each paper and paper III will be conducted for duration of two hours and thirty minutes.
According to the guidelines provided by the University Grants Commission, the candidates successfully completing the SET examination can apply for the post of lecturer only in the colleges and Universities situated in that particular state in which he/she has completed the SET examination. Therefore, the candidates who get through the Maharashtra SET examination can apply for the post of lecturer, only in the universities and colleges belonging to the state of Maharashtra.
